Formal!

Just because you're in college doesn't mean you have to stop doing the things you loved from high school, and last weekend, the 2010 Class Council held a Freshman Formal, with the theme title "Frosty Escape", in the Top of the Hop and Alumni Hall on Friday night. Everyone in the class was really excited for it, as it was the first dance that the entire class has had this year, and people showed up in droves, wearing snazzy suits and beautiful dresses. I was one of the organizers of the event, along with rest of the class council, and people were talking about the formal for weeks beforehand. As I was leaving my dorm building, all of the girls were doing each other's hair and putting on makeup - believe me, while there's no doubt that Dartmouth students work hard in the classroom, they sure know how to have fun when they're not doing work!

The class council provided snacks and beverages, and a HUGE number of people from the class came - the dance was an overwhelming success. Sure, high school is history, and proms are over, but sometimes, people really enjoy getting all dressed up for a dance. What was even cooler was that the class council paid for the entire event, but '10s paid $2 each for tickets, all of which was donated to a charity projected entitled "Dance for a Dream," a project spearheaded by the Dartmouth Medical School to benefit a medical center in Burundi. So, people were able to have a ton of fun and help a good cause at the same time - how could it be better than that?
